Respect, Growth, Strength & Pride

Our Club

Formed in 1954, South Morang had to wait a long time to procure their first Senior grade flag.

The Diamond Valley Football League / DVFL was formed in 1922. It was renamed the Northern Football League / NFL in 2007. Then the Northern Football Netball League / NFNL in 2018.

When the competition was split into three divisions in 2011 they found themselves placed in Division Three, and this was a cue to immediate premiership success.

After topping the ladder prior to the finals they scored comfortable wins over Parkside in both the Second Semi-final (22.14 to 15.9) and Grand Final (15.12 to 11.13).

Promoted to Division Two as a consequence, they were competitive in 2012 but slumped to last place in 2013 which meant relegation back to Division Three.

After finishing third for three seasons in succession before qualifying for the 2017 grand final, only to lose by 25 points to Banyule. The 2018 season brought another third place finish.

The 2019 season saw South Morang once again runners up to Panton Hill (11.13-79 to 5.9-39).

2020 and 2021 seasons were both cancelled due to Covid.

In 2022 South Morang finally broke the Premiership drought, defeating Laurimar (13.10-88 to 11.7-73).

So back to Division 2 for 2023 and an outstanding year with all Three South Morang Senior teams qualifying for finals.

We look forward to a great 2024.
